C’ Makedonitissa’s Primary School – Stylianos Lenas is a new public school, going through its fourth year of operation. It has 14 classes, about 300 students and about 25 teachers. It is situated near the Green Line, close to the abandoned Nicosia Airport which is under the UN supervision. The school is a modern building with high-standard facilities, including 12 classrooms, sport facilities, theatre, as well as special rooms for computers, art, music, science, design and technology and health education. Since 2009, the school has participated in a number of professional development projects that were based on the dynamic approach in order to improve the quality of teaching. For example, in the context of a European-funded project, the school had a leading role in establishing a network of 20 Cypriot primary schools aiming to use the findings of educational effectiveness research in promoting quality and equity in education.
